The inflationary energy scale.
نویسنده
چکیده
The energy scale of inflation is of much interest, as it suggests the scale of grand unified physics and also governs whether cosmological events such as topological defect formation can occur after inflation. The COBE results are used to limit the energy scale of inflation at around 60 e-foldings from the end of inflation. An exact dynamical treatment based on the Hamilton-Jacobi equations is then used to translate this into limits on the energy scale at the end of inflation. General constraints are given, and then tighter constraints based on physically motivated assumptions regarding the allowed forms of density perturbation and gravitational wave spectra. These are also compared with the values of familiar models. PACS numbers 98.80.Cq, 98.70.Vc Submitted to Physical Review D

The Inflationary Impact of Energy Subsidy Reform in Iran
Iran has suffered ever-increasing domestic energy consumption, mostly because of its long-standing price control policy. To decelerate this trend, Iran began a reform on its energy subsidy system in December 2010. This paper examines the inflationary impact of the energy subsidy reform on different Iranian non-energy sectors and urban and rural households by making an updated input–output...
متن کاملGravitational Waves Constraints on Post-Inflationary Phases Stiffer than Radiation
We point out that the existence of post-inflationary phases stiffer than radiation leads to the production of stochastic gravitational waves (GW) backgrounds whose logarithmic energy spectra (in critical units) are typically “blue” at high frequencies. The maximal spectral slope (for present frequencies larger than 10 Hz) is of order one and it is related to the maximal sound velocity of the st...

The thermodynamics of inflationary expansion can be either isentropic or non-isentropic. Representing the early universe by a two fluid mixture of radiation energy density ρr and vacuum energy density ρv, the inflationary regime, when the scale factor accelerates R̈ > 0, is for ρv > ρr. From the point of view of two fluid Friedmann cosmology, isentropic inflationary expansion appears as a limiti...
متن کاملMultiple Inflation, Cosmic String Networks and the String Landscape
Motivated by the string landscape we examine scenarios for which inflation is a two-step process, with a comparatively short inflationary epoch near the string scale and a longer period at a much lower energy (like the TeV scale). We quantify the number of e-foldings of inflation which are required to yield successful inflation within this picture. The constraints are very sensitive to the equa...
متن کاملWhat can quantum cosmology say about the inflationary universe?
We propose a method to extract predictions from quantum cosmology for inflation that can be confronted with observations. Employing the tunneling boundary condition in quantum geometrodynamics, we derive a probability distribution for the inflaton field. A sharp peak in this distribution can be interpreted as setting the initial conditions for the subsequent phase of inflation. In this way, the...
متن کاملCosmological Evolution of a Brane Universe in a Type 0 String
We study the cosmological evolution of a D3-brane Universe in a type 0 string background. We follow the brane-universe along the radial coordinate of the background and we calculate the energy density which is induced on the brane because of its motion in the bulk. We find that for some typical values of the parameters and for a particular range of values of the scale factor of the brane-univer...
